Sometimes the reason that your internet connection seems slow is because your computer is not configured correctly. In this day of blazing-fast DSL and Cable Connections — some of us, who have these fast internet services, still live with dialup / ISDN internet settings… and that’s a shame.
I was checking out the Network Path and Application Diagnosis tool over at measurementlab.net, and I discovered that my laptop’s settings were not right for my middle-of-the-road 8Mb/2Mb internet connection.
So, after a little bit of digging, I came across this free utility — the TCP Optimizer. It’s a small application that allows you almost one-click settings updates to optimize your PCs internet speed through registry/operating system settings.
You do have to reboot your computer so that the changes will take effect, but it’s a simple, and free, way to optimize your computer’s internet connection — broadband or not.
